A tip calculator (also called a gratuity calculator) is a simple arithmetic tool that computes how much to add to a restaurant bill — or any service bill — as a gratuity, and then optionally divides the total among a group. The math is straightforward but doing it quickly at the table, especially after a few drinks or a big group dinner, is where calculators earn their keep. The HIF Logic Tip Calculator uses three inputs and three core formulas to give you three instant outputs. Enter the pre-tax (or post-tax, your choice) bill total in dollars, select your tip percentage using the preset buttons (15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) or drag the slider anywhere from 10% to 30%, and specify how many people are splitting the check. Results update live on every keystroke and slider drag — no calculate button needed. The three formulas at work are: 1. Tip Amount = Bill × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100) 2. Grand Total = Bill + Tip Amount 3. Per-Person Share = Grand Total ÷ Number of People When splitting, the widget also breaks out the per-person bill share and per-person tip contribution separately, so each person at the table knows exactly what they owe regardless of how the check was itemized. The "Spin the Tip" feature picks a random but socially appropriate tip from a weighted pool — ranging from 10% (just okay) to 30% (outstanding) — using an animated slot-machine effect.    Enter your bill total in the Bill Total field. You can use the pre-tax subtotal or the post-tax amount — just be consistent. The calculator works with any dollar amount.

   Set your tip percentage using one of the four preset buttons (15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) for common amounts, or drag the slider between 10% and 30% for a custom percentage. The displayed percentage and all result cards update instantly.

   Set the number of people splitting the check. The default is 2. Increase it for large group dinners — the calculator handles up to 50 people.
